Citing staffing shortages and the local surge of the omicron variant, Jackson County Library Services will close all 15 Jackson County library branches for one week starting Monday, Jan. 31, according to a news release from JCLS issued Friday.
The White City branch will additionally be closed Saturday, Jan. 29, due to staffing shortages, according to the JCLS website. The library system will reopen Monday, Feb. 7.
The closure will temporarily halt all services next week, including reference support, social services assistance and the Direct Access to Resources and Technology van.
All scheduled library programs and events, including virtual programs, are either canceled or postponed.
Front door service will not be available during the closure, book drops will be locked, and due dates will be extended seven days. Pick-up holds will also be extended a week. The library does not charge late fees.
Digital resources through Library2Go, Kanopy and Hooply, will still be available, giving library cardholders access to e-books, audiobooks, digital magazines, movies and other media. For more information see JCLS.org.
