He soon found himself investigating the death of a child named Charlie Dodson and working to exonerate his mother, Emily Dodson. However, after the death of Emily's legal counsel, Perry's friend E.B. Jonathan, the detective cheated on the bar exam with help from District Attorney Hamilton Burger and

. And despite his lack of experience, Perry was able to successfully argue the incredibly difficult and high-profile case to a mistrial.

Season 2 is unknown. However, the Season 1 finale featured a nod to Eva Griffin, who played a key role in the first Perry Mason novel, "The Case of the Velvet Claws." In that book, Griffin comes to Perry, claiming that she's being blackmailed as a result of her affair with a congressman. Soon after, though, Griffin's husband is killed, and Perry is forced to defend her in court or else take the blame for the murder.
