AMHERST — About 40 residents attended a remote-access public forum Wednesday to share ideas on the planned new elementary school, with some advocating outdoor eating areas that would allow family use when school is not in session.

There was support for more outside learning structures, and a full gymnasium inside the building.

Plans are in the works to replace Fort River and Wildwood elementary schools with a consolidated K-5 school, with capacity for 575 children.
